Carmen Martins, daughter of Manuel and Sofi a Cancela, was born in the small village Agua da Pau, Acores, in Portugal. She moved to Canada, British Columbia, at the age of three with her mother and two siblings, Maria Teresa and Luis Francisco Cancela. Carmen's father moved to Canada, British Columbia, when she was only six months old then sent for the family when she was three years old. She is living in Oliver, British Columbia, with her three lovely children: Joey, Sofia, and her youngest, Chasey. She has always enjoyed writing and telling stories to her own children and her students at school.
