She wants to understand why she is considered the missing key that her family has been searching for, and why the mysterious Indian Kuruk immediately perceives her as "The Portal." This fictitious genre of futuristic western suggests what life could be in the future. Without today's technology, life again becomes simple. The Portal instills an understanding of unconditional love as well as a wide range of emotions. Its discussion of trauma, recovery, innovation, and the visionary approach to the uncertainties of the future makes the story appealing for all who want to be moved by the realities of life and society. (About the Author) Donna Eimer Villani has lived in the Midwest all her life. Besides The Portal, she is also the author of The Capture of Art, its sequel Return to Red Winds, and Sole Mate.
