Thus, the possibility of developing and implementing public policies that address different sociocultural contexts is discussed. It is understood that the adoption of public policies aimed at suicide prevention can reduce its occurrence in contemporary society. The general objective of this research is to analyze the phenomenon of suicide in contemporary society as a public health problem, attempting to identify the main causes that lead people to abbreviate their lives, demonstrating the absence of public policies for suicide prevention in Brazil and the possible implementation of the same, from a regional perspective, with the purpose of reducing suicide rates.
