This edition, prepared at the Peshitta Institute in Leiden on behalf of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament, is the first critical of this text. The edition of each individual book is preceded by a separate introduction.
This is the first scholarly edition of Isaiah according to the Peshitta, the Syriac translation of the Hebrew Old Testament from the second century CE, and up to this day the Bible of the Syriac Churches.
