Deep below it all, a catacomb of tunnels and caverns twists across the broken continent, harboring more sinister creatures than any explorer can imagine. The apocalypse has come and gone, and the people of Ralvera are rebuilding, exploring, and even thriving in their shattered world. But, the Vents still radiate their horrid power, keeping the land in their shadow, and it is only a matter of time before they erupt again to plunge Ralvera back into death and destruction. Mayve, a street urchin from the desert city of Devar, wants nothing more than to build a new life for her and her mother, far from the heat of the sun and the ash of the Scorch Vents. When a lucrative opportunity goes horribly wrong, Mayve loses her mother and gains possession of a strange artifact-the Oasis Stone. Chased by the savage raptors, the mighty Oaken Legion, and powerful merchant guilds, Mayve must choose-follow a fate laid out for her, to bring the Oasis Stone to the Great Seer and learn its true capabilities, or use it to avenge the death of her mother. Grappling between destiny and vengeance, Mayve is running out of time. The Vents are rumbling once more-when they erupt, the apocalypse begins again.
