Borromeo was captured by the Japanese during the rescue operation. Rosemarie was shot and killed. Rosemarie chose to stay on earth to watch and guide David during and after the war until David would find the woman he would love and marry. In David's dream, Rosemarie told David "I am at peace with God. I am giving you the freedom to fall in love again".
