Autor

Mubashar Hasan is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oslo’s Department of Culture, Religion, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, specializing in religious, cultural, and political authoritarianism. He is a prominent advocate for academic freedom and human rights, working closely in Australia with the Diplomacy Training Program and STARTTS. Dr. Hasan is also an honorary adjunct fellow at HADRI, Western Sydney University. His publications include Islam and Politics in Bangladesh (Palgrave Macmillan) and the co-edited volume Masks of Authoritarianism (Palgrave Macmillan), along with numerous journal articles. Arild Engelsen Ruud, a Professor of South Asia studies at the University of Oslo, focuses on democracy and politics in South and Southeast Asia. He is co-author of Mafia Raj: the rule of bosses in South Asia (Stanford University Press) and co-editor of South Asian Sovereignties, Outrage, and  Masks of Authoritarianism and author of numerous journal articles He is now leading the Norwegian Research Council funded project ‘Leadership and popular participation in Asian democracies’.
