This is a collection of poems, thoughts, and feelings gathered over many years; in many moods and stages of life. They have been brought together in chronological order, a bit like an autobiography. The pieces take you on a winding path in search of harmony, not only in the literal sense, but also as a soul name, making this a journey of self-discovery. Of course, this journey never ends. May you enjoy the wandering.
Harmony has been using poetry to express thoughts and observations, dreams, and emotions, since the age of fourteen. Her writing had always been very private, with only a piece here and there being shared with a select audience. After a couple of decades of creative drought, a resurgence of writing mojo finally occurred. More and more instances of sharing gained very positive feedback as readers felt moved and connected to what they read, and that feedback resulted in a desire for Harmony to set her work free. At times joyful, wistful, or romantic, at others darker and angry, Harmony rides the roller coaster of life as we all do. She tries to soften its harder edges with meditation, Yoga, and Qi Gong and finds joy, wonder, and inspiration in nature. She is learning to paint and hopes to one day incorporate her words with art. She chooses to write under the name of Harmony Clark, not for anonymity, but because it is a truer representation of self. Clark is the surname given at birth, rather than that chosen with marriage. Harmony is more esoteric. At the age of fourteen, when she started writing seriously, a knowing came to her during meditation. She felt, with all her being, that her true name was Harmony, that this is the name etched into her soul; the name that will leave this Earth with her one day and stay with her into the next life. Harmony's start in this life was tumultuous in a number of ways, beginning with a difficult childhood. Primary schooling occurred in six schools across three states. The emotional and geographical upheaval, along with living in sixteen residences before the age of twenty-five, resulted in many issues around connection and attachment, displacement, and deep insecurity. Naturally, these could all make for a wealth of potential writing material if she can find the courage to go there. The journey along that path has already begun.
