ALBERT BIGELOW PAINE (1861-1937), an American author raised in the Midwest, is best known for writing about Mark Twain, Mark Twain, a Biography, 4 volumes (1912). Paine was not only a noted biographer but a writer of fiction, humor, and travel who served on the Pulitzer Prize Committee.
