"The professional counselor in a school setting should provide individual or group counseling and guidance, measurement, assessment, evaluation, placement, consultation and counseling, referral, research and analysis, and follow-up. Some relevant goals of the program are: to provide educational and occupational experiences integrated into the curriculum that eliminate stereotypes (sexual, physical, racial and social impairments)" (Urbina, 2009). Schools continue to face problems over time. For example, the lack of educational and professional material to address the issue is a challenge faced by schools in Puerto Rico. The O.M.S. establishes that comprehensive sexual education should be facilitated from elementary school and recommends that it be a separate subject.
