It did not lie within the plan of the Lectures to treat of the Higher Criticism as a whole, but merely to view it in the light of the teaching of our Lord and His Apostles; and subsequently when dealing with objections to note some of the difficulties raised by the new theories. Most of the Lectures are given as they were delivered, but as, in the course of delivery, several points were treated orally, I have endeavored, in some of the Lectures, to incorporate the spoken matter, and so make a nearer approach to completeness of treatment, while a few additional examples of discrepancies have been given.
