After they had three children of their own they decided they couldn't handle Marisol, and they turned her over to Gina and her husband, who had a long relationship with her since she had spent weekends with them from the time she was adopted. Over the past four years they have given her a parental love that she never experienced before, but on the eve of her graduation from high school, she disappears. With the help of the local police, they learn that Marisol has evidently gone to meet someone in Honduras who claims to know where her birth mother is, so they follow her trail to the city with the highest murder rate in the world.
