For more than a decade, the Global Findex Database has been the definitive source of data on global access to financial services from payments to savings and borrowing. The fifth edition introduces new data series on financial health--including resilience to climate risks and the responsible use of fintech products. This edition also incorporates the inaugural Connectivity and Digital Transformation (ConnDX) survey, establishing a comprehensive demand-side data source on digital connectivity and for the first time exploring how adults across the world access and use mobile phones, the internet, and digital IDs--and how these tools drive the use of financial services and broader economic empowerment. Over the past few decades, digital technologies have significantly improved the lives of people in developing economies. Mobile phones and digital platforms have enabled women and low-income adults to access information, discover income opportunities, and use digital financial services to improve their livelihoods. Yet critical questions remain: How equitably are these benefits distributed? Who is still excluded, and why? Until now, the data to explore these questions has been incomplete. The ConnDX database offers a detailed look at how adults use the internet, develop digital skills, and navigate the challenges of a digital world. These datasets are based on nationally representative surveys of approximately 150,000 adults in more than 145 economies. This report is an essential resource for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners working to build a more inclusive and digitally connected global economy.
