We left behind our simple rural lives of mile upon mile of fields and dirt tracks to walk on paved streets and these certainly were not paved with gold as some had thought. Electric sockets and light switches replaced the kerosene oil which lit our divas, running water from taps replaced water pumped from wells, gas for cooking replaced our open fires. And that is to name just a few of the differences.
