The book is aimed to determine the effect of the location of open waste dumpsites on residential property values in Ikot Ekpene, to identify the factors that encourage the proliferation of these dumpsites and to recommend alternative waste management strategies. A survey was conducted on three open waste dumpsites located at Library Avenue, Ikpong Road and Abiakpo Road in Ikot Ekpene urban. The population of residential properties within the area under study is 1200 while the sample size was 300 comprising estate surveyors and valuers, waste management agents and household heads within the 500m radius from the dumpsites. The questionnaire was used to collect samples from respondents, while surveys and observation to determine properties proximity from open waste dumpsite were conducted. Furthermore, correlation analysis was used to determine if the location of dumpsites has a significant effect on residential property values. Finally, it is recommended that waste should be used to generate energy in order to achieve the aim of turning waste into wealth in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and the world in general.
