At present, although the film production industry does not play a significant role in the development of the country, the government s efforts to spur its growth are quite visible. This study illustrates the possibility, and even the necessity, for the film production industry to play an important role in the development of developing countries economies. Interestingly, the globalisation of the film industry has created new avenues for the industry to develop and, ultimately, potentially contribute to the economy in terms of income generation and employment creation. The findings of this study show that globalisation alone cannot explain certain phenomena but are mediated by factors internal to the industry.
