Hoani's sister Reka intends to train to be a Nanny in Auckland; But her life is in danger, after a chance encounter with school friend Toby, who has members of his brother's gang in his car with him. Reka is smuggled to safety in Auckland, while Toby disappears to a new life, with a new identity (Kiwa) in the deep south. A nationwide search by gangs eventually locates them both.
