Out of water it was called and by water it has been preserved (Baptism of Noah and family), as the rain that waters the ground that the Lord availeth to all in the earth. It is not just us that take the strength of the rain but even the ground takes of the water to produce. So the system of water preservation will endure to the day of the Lord when the world is purged by fire and shall emerge full of the Glory of our Lord and God Jesus Christ.
