When he finally returned, he was disoriented from the new changes that had taken place while he was gone. There was a new leader, who was highly popular, though unjust in many others' perspectives. He had taken control of the Sodality after being elected by his oblivious pawns, and was starting to exploit his power by claiming the sorcerers were now hidden somewhere deep in the shadows of the Amazon. As Jack embarks on this spontaneous journey with the group, he and Bruce begin to not trust their fellow members.
