Perhaps the most comedic of all the Shakespeare plays, The Comedy of Errors, verges on farce with its confused identities, slapstick violence, and confused intentions. This play vociferously demands Coleridge's "willing suspension of disbelief." As comedy, it resists analysis beyond its structure.
