The gap in research can easily be known through research, where hypothesis testing is generated either through regression model equation or ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). In hypothesis testing the proof can either be positive (+ve) or negative (-ve). When a research leads to positive hypo. means success while the negativity is failure and thus calls for reformulation of proposal and going back to the field for researching. On regression model when significant level is in between 1 and 0.005 means highly effective and hence success otherwise failure.
