Further, the question of whether Wuthering Heights is gothic or realist is being discussed. Having in mind the subtypes of Gothicism, Jane Eyre is categorized in the group of new gothic romances which is confirmed by many critics. The final chapter considers gender issues as special attention is paid to the struggle of power and passion in the two novels.
