Hofinger devoted most of his creative energy to organizing the theologians and bishops calling for a major Catholic renewal in the 1950s and 1960s, then disseminating the ideas of these scholars and leaders, as well as the vision of the international council of renewal of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965).
