Technique is the fifth studio album by New Order, released in 1989 via Factory Records. Partly recorded on the island of Ibiza, it incorporates Balearic beat and acid house influences into the group's electro/rock sound. The album's style was also heavily influenced by Danish group Laid Back's 1987 album See You in the Lobby, especially on the first single "Fine Time", on which Bernard Sumner takes influence from Laid Back's singing style, using various tones to sing parts of the song.
