During his internment, he watches in horror as Castille and his loyalists slaughter innocents and nearly allow the city to fall to the enemy. Across the Mortal Plane, the army from Seatown marches with Ren and her surviving companions, hoping that they can reach the beleaguered city before it is too late. Forsaken by the remaining Gods of Light, Ren vows to save Illux at all costs and free her people from the Light that abandoned them in their time of need. Though she remains steadfast in her convictions, she mourns the loss of Trent, her lover and fellow Seraph. Gods fall and new powers rise during these final throes of the millennia-spanning war between Light and Darkness which will leave the Mortal Plane changed forever.
