The synthesis of anthracene derivatives involves the reaction such as Nucleophilic displacement, catalytic cyclisation, cycloaddition, Diel - Alder reaction etc. The structure of the synthesized compounds is confirmed by IR, NMR Spectral data and elemental analysis. Further these compounds are tested for their antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacterial to establish the structure activity relationship.
