The book is about a group of kids Roger, John, Susan and Titty who are spending their holiday in the Lake District. The kids spot an island and want to go camping their as they have a boat called swallow. The kids get ready to explore the island but the kids find out that they are not alone. They are under attack of the Amazons which are Nancy and Peggy. The kids have a big battle to see who gets to stay on the island as the Amazons claim it is their island. In the end the Swallows win the battle and allow the Amazons to go and camp with them. The island is called wild cat island. The Amazons have an uncle which they call captain Flint as he owns a house boat. The kids declare war on captain Flint. How will the war end and will the kids win?<br />I really liked the book because it had a lot of humor in it and because it was very gripping. I would recommend this book and series to anybody who likes adventure stories and who is 10-11 years old as the English is very detailed. Weniger
