Hence the name of this scheme is Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijali Yojana (PMSGMBY). This electricity generation reduces carbon emissions and makes the electricity self-reliant. When the electricity consumption is low, the remaining electricity is taken by the electricity department and when the electricity is required more, the electricity department gives electricity. This is calculated through the net meter. PM-KUSUM - PM-KUSUM - is an initiative of the central government whose main objective is to promote solar energy in the agricultural sector. Under this scheme, farmers are given financial assistance and subsidy for installing solar pumps and setting up solar power plants on their land. This scheme helps in reducing diesel consumption, increasing farmers' income, providing reliable irrigation facility to farmers and reducing carbon emissions.
