I share how the pressures of life in Chicago coupled with the absence of a strong support network that led me to confront my inner demons and find the resilience to keep moving forward. I face the frustrations of facing systemic obstacles and biases within the legal system, as well as the unwavering determination to be a present and loving parent despite the challenges of missing out on my first born child Alaysha Ward. I reflect on the lessons learned and the growth experienced throughout my tumultuous journey.
