The changing nature of work with regard to the inceasing atypical employment and decreasing Standard Employment Relationship has rekindle the labour process debate. Particularly the post-Fordist debate and the continuous flexible utilisation of labour by capital necessitate the need to understand the effect of the restructuring of work on the concerned workers. This book studies a case of subcontracted workers to understand its implication for workers'' protection within the framework of labour law. This study investigates workers'' experiences of their employment with regard to social protection as manifested in job security and wage adequacy. Workers'' perception of labour law, as a tool for workers'' protection, is considered in relation to the argument of the régulation theorists that law serves as a mode of regulation'' to perpetuate the stability of the prevailing capitalist regime of accumulation. The impact of the changing nature of work on the effectiveness of labour lawat achieving workers'' protection was investigated. Subcontracting of work and workers'' protection in post-apartheid South Africa is key text for students and lecturers in sociology of work.
