Factors such as genetics, diet and lifestyle may be the main reason for this pattern. There are reports of a close association of clinical BPH with metabolic syndrome and erectile dysfunction, as well as a possible role of inflammation as a cause of the disease. Lifestyle changes towards a "healthy" lifestyle, including a proper diet, is one of the important strategic measures in combating the prevalence of this type of disease in the male population.
