Growing up in Central London as the only child of strict disciplinarian French parents, Dr Catherine Baudino quickly learnt that an obstacle was something to be overcome - not something that would limit her. So, aged 17, she presented herself to eminent heads of departments and professors at her three preferred London universities and fearlessly explained to these erudite grey haired mainly male academics that the French Baccalauréat was at least as good as English A Levels. They listened, and at the tender age of 23, Catherine eventually obtained her PhD in Literature. Over the years she would embark on the equally challenging transition from the Arts to the worlds of commerce, publishing and finally finance - always at executive level.
