Stanis?aw Bu?ak-Ba?achowicz was born February 10, 1883 in Meyszty, a small village near Vilna (Vilnius, Lithuania, then Russian Empire), in a family of local landlord's cook and maid[1], which was impoverished szlachta family of mixed Polish[citation needed] and Belarusian descent.After the birth of Stanislaw, his father left the landlord's kitchen and together with his brother acquired a small estate in Stakavievo near Vilna. Stanislaw had two brothers and six sisters.
