As for other materials such as magnesium, zinc, silicon, nickel, chromium, silver, etc., induction technology has played a somewhat less prominent but likewise successful role. In addition, the continuous technical development of induction furnace systems - particularly at the level of power converter and circuit technology and novel furnace designs - has opened up new applications for special input materials on the one hand and selective metallurgical tasks on the other. At the same time, new process technologies for making castings and semi-finished products have given rise to the evolution of specific melting and pouring furnaces. Conversely, induction furnace technology has actually enabled the development and industrial application of new process technologies, e. g., in the case of the horizontal continuous caster for copper materials.
