It explores the deep, raw emotion of becoming your true self while battling very real, modern problems--in relationships, careers, and society. The first half of the poems, "The Dark," focus on the complex emotions we face in modern society, especially as women, to wear a mask for the world. These words illuminate the struggle we face in stale relationships, the burden of responsibility, and the struggle of expectations.
