Sixtus Kargel, 1540 - 1593, was a German lutenist and composer. His first recorded publication, a lost print of 1569, appeared at Mainz, Germany. The ten pieces selected for this transcription come from his 1574 publication and include four Fantasias, three Pasamezos, and three Saltarellos which are delightful variations on each of the preceding Pasamezos. About Michael P Walker I studied guitar at Birmingham-Southern College under David Walpert who was a student of Andre Segovia and have been playing guitar, ukulele, Baroque guitar, and the lute for more than fifty years. I have transcribed these compositions with the hope of exposing this rich, beautiful music to a wider audience of guitar and ukulele players.
