Max has recently lost his father and is dropping out of everything. Mad at his coach, he drops soccer. In a confrontation with his mother, Max demands to follow in his deceased father's footsteps and climb Mt. Rainier. A mountain known for ice cliffs, glaciers, crevasses, and chaotic weather. Max trains with his grandfather and his life starts going better. He makes friends with the adults on his rope team during the climb. The last thousand feet are hard, Max doesn't quit-he makes the summit. Things go good on the way down until-- An earsplitting crack, a huge ice wall falls, ice blocks shove climbers into a yawning, blue crevasse.
