Internet of things is an innovative paradigm that is envisaged to give applications that are part of our daily lives. A lot of devices are launched within sophisticated networks to provide functionalities that includes communications, monitoring and controlling of critical infrastructures. This great growth of IoT devices coupled with the corresponding big data traffic accrued at the edge of the network creates additional stress on the centralized cloud computing architecture due to large bandwidth. It is now obvious that all kinds of centralized processing cannot effectively support this novel computing paradigm, taking in to consideration that IoT devices has to go hand in hand with other technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, mobile computing etc (Swapna, H. R., Adeleke, A. S., & Aryee, P, 2022). These limitations could be curbed by adopting the edge computing-assisted IoT paradigm. In edge computing-assisted IoT paradigm, the present cloud computing architecture is combined with the edge computing paradigm to effectively address the problems mentioned above.
