This book study the effect of some mitochondrial mutations in 16S rRNA, tRNALeu(UUR) and ND1 genes on the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Iraqi patients. Many mutations appeared in normal individuals in high percentage more than type 2 diabetes patients and showed a significant difference (m. 3127GA, m. 3139GA, m. 3235GA, m. 3316GA and m. 3480AG). In conclusion in Iraqi T2DM patients there was no correlation between mitochondrial DNA mutations in this study and type 2 diabetes mellitus incidence
