As he realises what he has discovered, he alerts his five colleagues and also his old teacher, Professor Tony Ross. Gradually, the five colleagues all became unreachable. One after another, the five are kidnapped, and the organisation, set up by a shady individual, is about to kidnap him as well. By pure chance, Alan saves himself from being kidnapped and begins to understand what is happening. He goes to the bank to withdraw money, but the accounts are empty. At this point, he begins an escape across the USA where the doctor, together wighhis girlfriend Sara Dixon, avoids ambushes and murder attempts until the final epilogue
