Once freed he proceeded to San Cristobal de la Habana. When Don Jose Herrera Sotomayor died in 1762 he was named Castilian of the Castle of the River San Juan. He married Maria Lucia Marenco Lopez del Corral, legitimate daughter of Pedro Marenco who was Corregidor of Matagalpa and Chontales and Mercedes Lopez del Corral who was born in the province of Cartago, Costa Rica. Their children were Josefina Sacasa Marenco who married Joaquin Chamorro Fajardo.
