Kunda is an eleven-year-old boy living in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, with his two sisters, Asya and Sekai, and their parents. One night, when their father returns home drunk, he viciously beats the boy. The next chance they get, Kunda and Asya grab a few belongings and flee into the night. They decide to make their way to Zambia and find their uncle. But can they make it there safely? This novel tells the tale of a brother and sister who struggle to escape their abusive father and find a place where they can be happy.
