His uncle was Sir Alfred Charles Davidson, General Manager of the Bank of New South Wales, now the Westpac Bank (and thus a great grandson of Alfred Davidson (humanitarian), formerly of Warmley House, Gloucestershire, England, later a well known Queensland humanitarian). Davidson attended Newington College (1932 1940) and then the University of Sydney from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1945.
