It uses an innovative approach of merging classical teletraffic theory in cognitive radio systems capacity analysis in order to derive best reconfiguration strategies under different usage scenarios (i.e. different ratio primary/secondary users, different ratio of traffic demands of primary vs. secondary users etc.). Also, the book presents a pioneering work of the IEEE 802.21 standard implementation and its usage for provisioning flexible resource reconfiguration in heterogeneous wireless systems. It shows a newly developed resource management architectural framework capable of supporting increased service retention and service availability in heterogeneous wireless environments under different users' demands/constraints. Last, but not least, the book carefully analyzes the policy aspects of the emerging cognitive radio systems and showcases a practical operation of a laboratory prototype specifically designed and developed for this purpose.
