In his own elegant translation of his German book, published in 2017, Kowa brings historic events to life and shows what record there is of them in buildings and towns. He explores how they have changed over time and debunks some of the myths that surround them. Kreitel looks for the aura of places with an eye for unusual detail and a sense of atmosphere. In this way the book offers unique insights for the tourist as well as givinga lively account of the history of those turbulent times.
