The creative process is a deeply human enterprise. The ability to conceive, design, and execute is innate, but the path to innovation is riddled with pitfalls and demands ingenuity and resilience. These pages are a reflection on the alternating elation and despair of the creative process.
Landon Clay, a figurative artist, spends an unreasonable amount of time studying languages in New York City. He earned an MA (Honors) in social anthropology from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and joined archaeological expeditions in French Polynesia and China. After graduation, he continued his anthropological studies through representational visual arts, completing courses in Florence, Italy, at Angel Academy, and at New York City's Grand Central Atelier. He has been authorised as a copyist in the Museo Prado and the Metropolitan Museum Galleries. Focusing on portraiture, figurative, and still-life in his personal work, he frequently places as a finalist in national and international painting competitions. He strives for sincere observation and representation of nature through his art, which is in private collections in the United States and Europe. He currently teaches at the Grand Central Atelier in New York City and occasionally offers workshops internationally. Agustin Moreno is a Junior Professor of Mathematics at Heidelberg University in Germany. He is a researcher by training and a musician (cellist) who frequently indulger in exploring creative writing. He holds degrees from the University of Cambridge, where he completed with distinction one of the most demanding master's courses in the globe, part III of the Mathematical Tripos. His Ph.D. was awarded by the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (started initially at University College London, UK). In addition, he has been affiliated with the Berlin Mathematical School, a fellow at the Mittag-Leffler Institute in Sweden (where he worked on the well-known three-body problem), and a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ, USA. His Mathematical work lies at the crossroads of geometry, topology, dynamics, and mathematical physics, and has been published in some of the most prestigious mathematical journals in the world.
