Variations in tooth morphology can occur during initiation of tooth germs, their growth, organic matrix apposition and subsequent mineralization. Sassouni considers the determination of race from teeth to be more of an art than a science, but this does not exclude it from sometimes being a most useful tool in the diagnosis and treatment protocol in field of conservative dentistry and endodontics. It not onlyhelps in identification of unknown bodies but can also be helpful in overall treatment outcome of patients in different racial groups.
