You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, "You can't teach an old dog a new trick." But I tell you, you can learn a lot of lessons about life and love from an old dog. There have been a lot of dogs that are a part of my family and in my life over the years. Anyone with children will completely understand and appreciate what I have experienced. My children use their cunning art of manipulation and tell you they must have it. Then you, the parent, will be hit with an inevitable litany of promises. "Please, Daddy, I promise to feed the dog." "Please, Daddy, I promise to walk the dog." And my personal favorite, "Please, Daddy, I promise to clean up the poop." We all know what happens next. Broken promises! Over the years, I have trained many dogs that were not in the legal sense, "mine". But in the process of training my children's dogs, my Lord and Master in heaven started sharing with me the similarities of how he trains me. I train my dogs so they will be the best dogs they can be. Jesus is my Lord and Master and wants me to be the best child of God I can be. I am created by the Creator to bring Him Glory. I am designed by the Great Architect to bring Him Honor. I am planned by my Master and Trainer for a purpose and to bring Him Praise.
