Currently, most Brazilian municipalities still face technical, operational, and financial problems, remaining dependent on federal government policies and private sector initiatives. Unlike most Brazilian cities, Balneário Camboriú/SC has undergone a marked process of expansion and improvement in its sanitation system. This is a result of the city's physical and geographical characteristics and the public policies that were implemented to meet the urban and tourist growth that occurred starting in the 1970s. The book presents the development of the sewage system in the city of Balneário Camboriú, covering an analysis of the sanitation policies implemented between 1970 and 2013, with the study represented in thematic temporal maps.
