If there is an imbalance of closeness and distance, the helper can quickly become overburdened and overwhelmed. Without the right balance of closeness and distance, professional social work is hardly possible. A good middle way is necessary to create a boundary between the person and the professional role. In my work, it is extremely important to me to show opportunities for professionals that can promote a successful approach to the closeness-distance problem. Among many other skills, I have decided to explain reflexive competence and authenticity in more detail in my literature research.
